Moontime books were the brainchild of Peregrine Llanberis, a rogue entrepreneur who became fixated upon (and was mainly responsible for) the short-lived but wildly popular ‘bird book mania’ of the late 1930s.

Initially established to provide tomes of exclusively avian aspect (‘for the obsessive layperson’), this single-minded approach was eventually discontinued in 1967 following the notorious publication of Today Bread, Tomorrow Secrets.

With Peregrine’s daughter Pipistrelle appointed managing director the following year, Moontime’s remit was immediately broadened to include a more diverse array of subjects, eventually settling inside the lucrative field of speculative fiction.

With their strong identity, variety of eye-catching covers and mysterious sensibilities, Moontime are a favourite fixture of underground railway station bookstands the world over.
